I am a published queer poet (the "littles"), and am quite happy to have happened upon this site! I honestly believe that most queer folk are grossly misunderstood. Especially those that were there (during the worst of the AIDS crisis). Speak up! Say it loud and proud! Young and old alike. Never forget the wise words of Miss Midler: "Aren't you people tired of being stepped on?" And never forget the ones that cleared the path for all of us still alive today. Be it Whitman, Gertrude and Alice, Auden, Frank O'Hara, Ginsberg, Capote, Warhol, Quentin Crisp, etc. We have a very strong past. Now let us begin to make an even stronger future: Starting with Larry Kramer. Do you have the balls to put reactionary fools like Ann Coulter to shame? I say let us go for it--big time. Yeah, Silence=Death. So let me hear your beautiful queer voices. Starting today. Okay? Poetry or prose. Let's be sure and put the Archie Bunkers of the world to shame. Go for it! Especially now that we are still living in DubyaLand. If you'd like to read more of my wicked words, feel free to click on Return (below each entry)--and that should take you to my site over at Journalspace. Plus I'll be posting more things here, etc. Dylan Mitchell is my name. And telling the truth about being queer in straight America--is my game. Peace.

| | | | | I actually overheard someone asking this question, while I was standing in line at Safeway the other day. There was an "article" in one of the tabloids about how gay marriage would bring America to its knees (bad pun on purpose) if it ever became legal. The man asking the question looked gay to me (but I'm bad at figuring that sorta thing out), and he was chatting with the cashier (a straight male Christian?). I assume this because he was sporting a wedding ring, plus his casual answer was: "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, so your question is ridiculous." read more >>

Just wanted to thank Ta for the splendid editing job she did on my Brokeback Mountain review. I've already told several of my friends to take a sneak peek--and they all liked what they saw! Also, please know I am still reading my fave blogs here, and I wish I could leave comments for everybody; but my laptop gets worse by the day, and it is totally frustrating to see all my words lost in an instant. Curiously, emails are a different matter (except I am way lazy when it comes to emails), so I can only blame myself for that. My injured leg is on the mend, and I really do love the new apartment. So I am desperately saving my pennies for a new iMac, and promise to return as soon as I can. I really do miss blogging on a regular basis. But all of you are in my thoughts, and I am reading your fabulous blogs. Keep up the good work! Hope life is treating each of you kind, and please don't forget about me: I shall return as soon as I am able to. read more >>

Just a quick thank you for all the nice comments. I appreciate it big time. My leg is somewhat on the mend, and I've been doing my best to save as many pennies as I can for a new iMac (I actually used 3 of those $10 coupons at Safeway this week!), so I hope to be up and posting soon. Right now I'm using an ancient laptop (Gateway 2000), and it took me close to 4 hours to post a poem (not one of my best) on my Journalspace site. Not cool. Anyway, hope everybody is doing fine? I do drop by--and take regular peeks at the new posts. So you may just think of me as the Ghost of Hamlet. LOL. Hope to be back soon! I'm already missing Q Blogs big time... Dylan

I'll try to keep this short--because I don't want this post to be a total downer. Due to some recent events in my life (moving, injuring my leg during the move, and having my iMac computer crash on me, etc.), I won't be able to blog for awhile. I need to figure out a way to make some money (so I can get a new computer--or at least a decent used one). Also, the pain pills I am taking because of my injured leg--tend to make it difficult for me to write. My concentration is way off, so I've pretty much been reduced to copying and pasting stuff--and I miss all the creative writing I feel I am best at, etc. Anyway, I'm gonna try and enter some writing contests, so I can possibly win a few bucks--and get another computer. Also, I think my writing will be so much better, once my leg has healed and I no longer need to depend on these pain pills to make it through the day. I'll be able to focus much better. I'd like to thank Aaron and the Q Blogs team for the opportunity to blog here. I've met some really cool people I have become quite fond of, so leaving is a sad thing for me. Also, I'd like to congratulate you on all the recent awesome changes. Q Blogs just keeps getting better and better, and is one of the coolest blogging sites I ever participated in. So I thank you big time for letting me be a part of it all. I hope everyone has an awesome summer. I'll be thinking of each of you. And I hope to return in 4-6 weeks. Keep up the good work! read more >>
