The Portland Area Business Association (PABA) is the GLBT chamber of Commerce for Portland Oregon. Founded in 1991, this organization exists to support GLBT and GLBT-friendly businesses throughout Portland and beyond. The greatest benefit to joining PABA is often said to be summed up in one word: networking. PABA offers many opportunities to network with other like-minded businesspeople. These include two morning networking meetings and one lunch time networking group. These groups are free to all members and have resulted in numerous tips and leads for the regular networkers. In addition, nearly every member of the networking groups (called Biz Builders) reports feeling supported and welcomed in the groups. Biz Builders offers a casual approach to networking that is quite different from others. In addition, PABA sponsors events that can be classified as "business-social." These include monthly after-hours meetings, occasional parties and monthly luncheon meetings with fabulous local guest speakers. PABA also sponsors a major opportunity at the Portland Gay Pride Festival - discounted booth space in our PABA "SuperBooth" and tons of support for our members who want to maximize their exposure at Portland's biggest community event. If you are interested in joining PABA - or just interested in getting more information, please visit www.paba.com.
