Missionary Man done to Metallica's Sandman? Take A Chance on Me to the tune of Ina Gada Davita? A jazz version of Pat Benatar's Heartbreaker? The best version of Sweet Home Alabama you'll ever hear, called Sweet Home Mothafucka? And those are just the covers. Storm Large and The Balls rock. Just days before embarking on a one month tour of Canada, Storm and her Balls rocked longtime haunt Dante's in Portland on Friday night, June 22. Opening acts included an inspired set by Kleveland - featuring one of the best live drummers I have seen in a long time. But this is about Storm and the newly-formed fan club Fags4Storm. Since playing Portland's Pride Festival, Storm is gathering gay and lesbian fans. Her appeal to lesbians is obvious and there were several of our sisters in the audience Friday night. Wearing a skimpy, see-through dress and a thong, Storm had all eyes on her. She played all seven songs from her new album Ladylike Side One. High energy all night long, I felt exhausted by the end, when Storm took the stage to do a hilarious rendition of Happy Birthday in the style of Marilyn Monroe for her Balls. It was the 5th year anniversary of the forming of her band The Balls. Lucky Canadians who get to claim our Storm for the next month should plan to NOT miss a show. Bring her Roses as the OTHER fan club, the BallzBoarderz did last night. It's ladylike and it wll remind Storm of her home Portland, the Rose City.
