I created a very brief text message on my cell phone that said something like "Happy Mothers Day. Don't forget to call your Mom today!" Meant to be a mass text message to my friends, I soon found that I faced more than the usual problems in selecting recipients from my contact list.
Normally, the stroll (scroll?) through my contacts list to choose who will receive the text message only involves fairly innocuous decisions like "is this the person's cell phone number?" and "is this someone I even know or did I just get his number in a bar?" But this time, things were a little different - and perhaps a little too revealing about who I am.read more >>
This is supposed to be a fun blog, despite the fact that it seems to fall into controversy every once in a while. Still...I try to add some honest feelings of sadness, perspective and maybe even thanks whenever I can.
Heath Ledger was not gay. I am not going to invite controversy at this sensitive time. He just played one of the greatest gay characters in movies.
I remember reading a review of Brokeback Mountain before I saw it in the theaters. The reviewer spent copious space on the outstanding performances in the movie and then settled on something like "but this movie clearly belongs to Heath Ledger." He went on to describe the sheer energy Ledger could somehow keep contained in his sinewy body.read more >>
Ta has been reading - and enjoying all the comments on her entry "Is Zac Efron Gay?" Havin' spent nearly 20 years marketing music celebrities Ah am continually surprised at how little things have changed when it comes to marketing celebrities.
All the little girls screamin' that Zac is not gay may be right ... but we'll never know ... not while he is young and marketable to screamin' little girls who will buy ANYTHING with his face on it or has anything to do with him. In fact, Zac Efron has been on more magazine covers in 2007 than any other single star out there. (Angelina Jolie is a close second.)
Because of his good looks and modicum of talent all of his handlers will do everything possible to keep the marketing machine running at top speed. It all has to do with MONEY. You see the studio makes money when his movies make money. But, he has a lawyer (10%), an agent (15%), a manager (10%) and various hangers-on (22%) not to mention the government (33%) {unless he has a good tax accountant who gets 10%} who all get a piece of his income.
Six years ago, today, New York Fire Department Chaplain Mychal Judge became victim #0001 in the World Trade Center terrorist attack.
This morning, I heard a radio disc jockey remind us that today is the anniversary of 9/11/01 and I quickly did the math to come up with the six years. The disc jockey went on to explain that she would not be getting all choked up about it as she had done last year. She suggested that we “buy coffee for the person in line in front of us at Starbucks,” hold a door for someone, just be nice.read more >>
My name is RU Gay. I am not a celebrity reporter and I have no authority to even know the people I talk about. I am just a gay guy having some fun posing the question over and over again: Is He Gay?
I am 38 years old and live in fabulous Portland, Oregon. I have chosen the theme image for this blog based on its beauty and gayness. It is not an image of me. This blog is not about me. Sorry if this creates any confusion.
