Is David Hernandez gay? Yes. And guess what? He's headed back to his gay stripping after getting the boot from American Idol. In fact...he will be available all summer now that he won't be bothered with that annoying American Idol tour. Only the Top Ten get to go.
Similarly unburdened with summer touring is the fabulous Amanda Overmyer. Although not gay, she embodied the savage individualism AI often misses and gay people love. We'll miss you Amanda. Kick ass.
The show now has very little to offer a gay audience other than the obvious wondering about cute David Archuleta. But, let's be serious, folks. David Archuleta is not gay. If your gaydar is correctly tuned, you will agree. I will admit that he is likely to trigger a false-positive, what with his adorable shyness and ability to channel divas in his singing. I just keep repeating one word over and over in my mind: Mormon.
That's not to say that there are not gay Mormons out there - well, gay ex-Mormons. There are. I just don't think a celebrity is truly gay until he comes out. And with David Archuleta that will NEVER happen.

If it turns out that David Archuleta is indeed gay, the Mormon church will have one of its famous "revelations" stating that Heavenly Father says gay sex is acceptable. No way are they going to piss him off and risk losing their 10%tithing, with the potential billions he could make. Mormonism is all about money.
I'll keep watching this season, looking for gayness at every camera angle. I think my best bet this season, though, is Ryan Seacrest.
