No. If you have meta tags conside it a good thing and no reason to see a doctor! You are one step further along than most folks. But, if you do NOT know what meta tags are nor what to do with them once you have them; then read on.... Here's the technical definition: "An element of HTML coding on a website that is used by search engines to index (add the pages to their database) a website. Most meta-tags are included within the 'header' code of a website and the most important tags are the title, description and keyword tags. Rules used by different search engines govern how such tags are used, how many characters they should contain, and how they should be formatted." I built Q Blogs with the ability for you to add your own custom meta-tags to your blog so that it will make it easier for the search engines to find and index your blog. We're NOT a quiet bunch here! We're OUT and PROUD and want to tell everyone what GREAT PEOPLE WE ARE! No hiding in the murky depths of the internet ... we want the world to know! Um. Sorry. I'll get off my soap box. Ahem. So ... meta-tags. Log in to your blog's administration panel. On the lower right hand section with the magnifying glass. You'll wee Meta Tags listed. Click that link.
Meta Title This is the title of your blog with your tagline. This is what appears at the top of the browser window AND what will be seen when someone does a search. They key here is to have your blog title, your name (if you want) and a tagline that says what your blog is about. For example, my blog's - QueerVueMirror - title tag is "Queer Vue Mirror - Tallulah Givehead's Guide to Gay Film" So ... blog name, blog author, blog topic. Meta Description Yes. I know. ANOTHER description. You can copy the description of your blog (not your author description) into this space. You want to be certain of two things ... that you include your Meta Title content in this section AND you want to include most (if not) all of your Meta Keywords (we'll get to those in a sec.) in this section. BUT, you also don't want it to be ungodly long. I know some of you can simply go on and on and on! Just a few sentences. Meta Keywords Keywords are the terms - either single words or phrases - that people might use to search for a blog like yours. How would someone look for you? For example, in QueerVueMirror, my tags include: gay movies, gay film festivals, out actors, gay actors, movies with gay themes, etc. I know we've spent a LOT of time on text stuff an you are just jonesing to get some blogging done! But, rest assured, all of this work is to ensure that you have a great blog that can be found by people and is interesting enough to keep them coming back. Let's face it .. we're homos! We want the attention! Next time .... Chosing the right template for you!
